Tom and Nick lay in the back of Tom’s truck. Though it was a chilly day, the sunlight was warm and they were comfortable. The park was deserted, with only an occasional dog walker passing by, and they laid low in the bed of the truck, invisible to everyone. Nick's head rested against Tom’s chest as they both relaxed in the warm sunshine.

“I think I need to tell my mom.” Tom said. Though he had only talked about his dad with Nick once or twice, Tom had a very close relationship with his mom. He didn’t like the feeling that he was deceiving her.

Nick bristled. He liked the way things were with Tom, and he didn’t want them to change. If anything, there had been too much change lately. Now that things had finally settled down with everyone at school and with his own parents, he didn’t want to veer off into new territory.

“Everyone knows now. Guys have got to be talking about it with their parents,” Tom said, “She’s going to find out.”
